Thank you and congratulations to everyone participating in our 2nd annual Summerland to Carpinteria Ocean Swim! This year was without a doubt our most successful and exciting swim yet, with 54 swimmers and kayakers joining us for the 2.2 and 4.7 mile swims. Despite the water and air temperatures being somewhat chilly throughout much of the swim, the spirit and enthusiasm shown by this intrepid group of aqua enthusiasts was absolutely inspiring. It was such a rush to see everyone so fired up to take on the challenge, which for some would be their farthest swim ever.

Welcome to the elite and rather exclusive club of individuals who can actually say they SWAM FROM SUMMERLAND TO CARPINTERIA!

This event would not have been possible without the support and contributions from our ever-growing Channel Island Masters' swimming family. Please join me in thanking the following folks who really stepped up in helping us out:

* Will Carleton - For donating the use of his truck to transport the kayaks (check out the first photo on the Flickr link above).
* Island Brewing Company - For their outstanding generosity and hospitality in allowing us to use their facility (and of course enjoy great tasting beer!)
* Jaime Torres & Ventura Toyota - For donating our colorful, ballon-filled, sky-high finish line!
* Jessica Dozoretz - For her versatility in organizing and helping us out with the kayaks and the after-swim festivities.
*Safety/Support Crew - For being there to transport swimmers to their Summerland start, and for safely escorting and cheering them on - all the way back to Carpinteria.
* City of Carpinteria: For allowing us the use of their kayaks and boathouse facilities.

That was so much fun, let's all get together next year and do it again...We've already started planning =)
